What better way to help us understand clouds... than to make clouds with shaving cream?! We learned about stratus clouds, cumulus clouds, and cirrus clouds. Can you tell which clouds are which?
As you can tell from the pictures below, the second I approved their clouds and told them they can play with their shaving cream, it all of a sudden became the "BEST DAY EVER!!!" Currently in Math, we are studying graphs. We have learned about picture graphs and bar graphs. As a review, we put on our best 'staches and took a survey! The results were GREAT! Check out the pictures below! Of course, Mrs. Buller and I had to get in on the 'stache excitement!
We had such a great time at our Christmas party this year! Thank you to all the parents that helped organize the party and donate goodies as well! We played Minute-to-Win-It Games, ate treats, and even had a photo booth! Take a look at all of the pictures below! Mr. Dale even came to read to us! He knew "T'was the Night Before Christmas" by HEART! And you know what? He looked a LOT like Santa... Hmm...
Happy Holidays from the Thies family! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Be safe and enjoy the time with your family and friends! I will see you back to school on Tuesday, January 7th, 2014! Today we studied SYNONYMS! What better way to practice synonyms than to make chef hats and "bake synonym rolls?!" We worked so hard on these rolls... and our final projects.
Thank you to the families that donated food towards our Stuff the Turkey Food Drive put on by our school Social Worker, Mrs. Buller. It is overwhelming knowing that we have so many families that are eager to help other families in our district. Enough food was brought in to help well over a dozen families in our district! Thank you so much for your generosity! And a special thanks to Mrs. Buller for putting this food drive together!
Meet.... GEORGE! :)
We have worked hard at convincing Mrs. Thies that we deserve a class pet. Finally... she caved! We are proud owners of a hamster in room 13! We chose to name him George for many reasons: 1. George Washington is Mrs. Thies' favorite president. 2. We love Curious George books! 3. We could get cutesy with his name and call him Georgy Porgy. The list can go on and on... If you have yet to sign and return the permission slip for your child to hold, clean, and care for George, please get that turned in as soon as possible. I cannot allow you With Veterans Day being on Monday, we took the time today to read "America's White Table" by Margot Theis Raven. We also talked about what a true hero is. After looking up the definition, we decided to write our own definitions of a hero. Our local Boy Scout Troop held a Flag Retirement Ceremony for our school. It was so neat to watch the process and be a part of such an amazing experience!
We had a classroom full of characters in costumes! Check out the slide show below for some great pictures of the kiddos! What a great looking group! We had so much fun playing Bingo with Mrs. Mathenia and Mrs. Buller! We even go MUSTACHES in our goodie bags! (Are you starting to see an obsession?) |
